On 20 September, LIGA with the help of UNAIDS Country Office has organized a technical consultation meeting.
On the event, LIGA
and the Centre of Social Expertise of the National Academy of Science have introduced «THE COUNTRY CONTEXT ANALYSIS OF LGBT PEOPLE SITUATION IN UKRAINE. Abbreviated version». The report on the research was made within the second phase of the Bridging the Gaps: Health and Rights of Key Populations program funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. This is a unique document which contains important information on LGBT community, their human rights and HIV/STI prevention.
UNAIDS Country Office has provided their premises for the meeting. Representatives of the Ukrainian Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Social Policy, National Police of Ukraine, ombudsperson’s secretariat, UNDP and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands have participated.
This technical consultation with the government was the first one when the report on LGBT situation was discussed with the representatives of the government officials before it is printed. It was interesting and productive discussion.The quality of the report was assessed highly by the participants. Thanks everyone for taking part in the meeting.
